  • 2002- PhD student on a research proposal concentrating on predictors of dental pain in children.
  • 1998- Extending work at pedodontic dpt., concentrating on postdoc training and child dental research.
  • 1997-2001 PhD student on a research proposal concentrating on predictors of dental anxiety (thesis: Dental fear in children, M ten Berge).
  • 1994- Head postdoc pedodontic training program.
  • 1994 PhD, based on a thesis on the efficacy of nitrous oxide: Nitrous oxide, happy air or hot air.
  • 1989 -'98 Head section Fear and Anxiety of Special Dental Care Centre (SBT) at ACTA. Special interest: treatment quality and creating a strong referral network for anxious and mentally handicapped children.
  • 1998- Extending collaboration with child psychologist and anesthesiologist in referral practice for fearful children.
  • 1982 -‘98 parttime private dental practice (0.3 full time equivalent)
  • 1979 – Pedodontic Dpt. Free University Amsterdam, starting a full-time appointment for student training, treatment of fearful child patients and research. Special interest: patient treatment fearful children.
